The artwork on the Renton Municipal Airport’s new blast fence was recently completed.

The total cost of the project was estimated at about $1.15 million, with 90 percent of the funding coming from a Federal Aviation Administration grant. The FAA grant did not include the artwork or landscaping so the city’s share of the cost was expected to be between $200,000 and $250,000 when all is said and done.

According to airport officials, Renton’s blast fence is the longest multi-dimension curved blast fence in the world.
