Salvation Army thanks Renton with free burgers and dogs all week

The Renton Salvation Army is thanking the community for its support with free hamburgers and hot dogs all week.

“This time we thought we’d just do something different,” said Ezekiel Mafusire, manager of the food bank. “We wanted to do something more visible this time.”

Salvation Army employees and volunteers setup tables along the Renton Transit Center. The smell of grilled burgers brought some with opened wallets, but it’s all a gift.

The week was declared in 1954 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The non-profit organization has been in the United States for about 130 years.

They’ll be serving hot dogs and burgers Thursday and Friday, noon to 1 p.m.
