We need strong laws on cruelty

I truly appreciate your coverage in the Feb. 19 edition of the dog with the poorly amputated leg, left in a car for 31 hours in pain and unable to relieve itself. It’s critical that the ongoing issue of heinous animal cruelty be made known to the public.

We need better laws that make punishment much more severe for people who neglect and hurt the animals who innocently depend on them. Passing the legislation we need will undoubtedly take a very long time, so the neutering of this dog’s owner will serve as a quick “fix” and will suit me just fine.

Let’s hope that the pup, “Pounds,” gets better and finds a good home soon.
