Regarding the “MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE GOVERNOR…” political cartoon in the Dec. 24, 2010, Renton Reporter. It seems unfair to blame Gov. Gregoire for cuts in services for the poor. More appropriately, the cartoon could have been captioned “MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM ALL THOSE WHO VOTED TO DECREASE TAXES…”

In the last election we voted against new taxes and to take away some existing sources of tax revenue. Tax money was already down because of a slow economy and because of decreased property values. The budget cuts have to be made somewhere. Gov. Gregoire is doing what she has to do – make tough decisions.
