A medley of Dr. Seuss creatures will take the stage at Lindbergh High School Tuesday and Wednesday during The H.O.M.E. Program’s production of Seussical.
The H.O.M.E. Program has put on a play for the past few years. But Seussical is the “first large-scale, Broadway-style production” for the Renton School District’s kindergarten through 12th grade parent partnership school, says Kari Kusz, mother of three boys active on and off stage in the Dr. Seuss-inspired musical.
H.O.M.E. Program
The H.O.M.E. Program is performing Seussical at Lindbergh High School Tuesday and Wednesday. The show is at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 8 p.m. on Wednesday. The musical is free, but donations are accepted.
Kusz’s son Ryan Kusz, 12, plays Horton the Elephant. His love interest, Gertrude the bird, is played by Kyrian Brichoux, 11. Backing up the couple are Jaiden Douwes, 11, as Jo Jo, a Who in Whoville; Elijah Clayton, 12, as the Cat in the Hat; and Ayana Pagan, 10, as Maisey the flighty bird.
These young actors and Seussical’s other participants are in a H.O.M.E. Program class taught by Seussical director Gina Brichoux.
The students helped choreograph the dances and create the costumes, Kusz says.
“This is a delightful production with outstanding performances by all the children,” she says of the show.
