The Hazen girls basketball team kicked off its season with a bang, beating Kentridge 59-43 Tuesday in a non-league game.
The Highlanders (1-0) went up by seven after the first quarter, then added nine more to the lead with a big fourth quarter.
Airashay Rogers scored 23 points. She collected eight rebounds and six steals. Michelle Wnek scored 16 points and grabbed nine steals.
As a team, Hazen’s defense produced 23 steals.
