Renton student wins Max Block Award

A Renton High School student recently received a Max Block Award from the American Jewish Committee.

Lian Caspi is one of only 20 area high school students to receive a Block Award, which honors students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in fostering human relations in their schools and communities.

The Block Award was created in 1959 by Robert J. Block to honor his father Max Block, one of the chapter’s founders and its first president.

The Block Awards promote the core values of the American Jewish Committee: fostering human rights, equality and justice for all people, worldwide.

Counselors from 50 public and private high schools in the greater Seattle Area are annually invited to nominate one junior or senior from their school as a Block Award candidate.
