A juvenile birthday party turned violent early on Feb. 7 in the 3300 block of Northeast 17th Street when a fight broke out and shots were fired.

Neighbors reported hearing at least one gunshot at about 3 a.m. About a half-hour later a 21-year-old Seattle man showed up at Valley Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The party was attended by boys and girls in their mid teens, as well as some adults. Officers searched the house for the partiers – finding 13 hiding in a back bedroom – and placed them in handcuffs until the house was secured.

One boy had a large gash on his head, apparently from a beer bottle. Before the shooting the 21-year-old got into a fight with someone because the other males were jealous that all the ladies were trying to get with him. He was shot as he was driven away.

At one point an SUV pulled up and several shots were fired at the house. Police had been at the house earlier for a noise complaint.

No arrests were made that night.

WALKER ROBBED AT GUNPOINT: A 35-year-old Renton man returning from a walk about 10 p.m. Feb. 7 was approached by an older teen male armed with a gun who demanded the victim’s money.

He didn’t have any money, but he handed over his cell phone. The teen walked away and seemed to join up with a male and female about the same age. The incident occurred in the 16800 block of 108th Avenue Southeast.

On his walk, the victim was approached by a young male asking for the time.

At about 2 a.m. the next morning, Bellevue Police made an arrest in a similar case. And they recovered the Renton man’s cell phone.

CAUGHT AGAIN: A 31-year-old Renton woman was too embarrassed to tell her sister-in-law she couldn’t go into the downtown Renton Walmart because she had been trespassed from the store.

So she went inside to do some shopping on Feb. 6. She was recognized by store employees.

She was issued a citation and the officer waited as she was driven off by her relative.

HARDWARE STOLEN: A 20-year-old Renton man walked through McLendon Hardware Feb. 8, placing what turned out to be about $750 worth of hardware into a shopping cart.

He then walked out of the store through the Garden Center without paying, where he was stopped by store security. He was booked into the SCORE regional jail for investigation of third-degree theft.
