Liberty girls win Sea-King title, advance to state | Cross country

The Liberty girls cross-country team won the Sea-King 3A district championships and became the first Liberty cross-country team to ever qualify for state Oct. 28.

The Patriots won with the pack approach as their top five runners all finished within five seconds of each other.

Aimee Christensen led the way placing 14th with a time of 20 minutes, 25.41 seconds. Megan Chucka (15th), Rachel Shaw (17th), Allie Wood (18th), Amy Broska (19th), Michaela Chucka (29th) and Megan Larson (31st) followed.

On the boys side Scott Turner (20th) and Tyler Westenbroek (23rd) each qualified for state and Liberty finished seventh as a team.
