Rainier Avenue RadioShack among those set to close

Electronics retailer RadioShack on Feb. 5 declared bankruptcy, announcing that about 2,400 of the company’s 4,000 stores would be sold while the others would close.

In total, 1,784 stores will close this spring.

On Monday it was revealed the Renton Store on Rainier Avenue South would be one of the stores set for closure. Three waves of closures are planned with 162 shops closing up by Feb. 17, 986 by Feb. 28 and the final 636 by the end of March.

According to documents filed by Radio Shack, the 3,700-square-foot Rainier Avenue South location, known as Store 3336, will be in the third “tranche,” or wave, of closures.

According to documents, the store will be closed by March 31, 2015.
