The deadline is today (Wednesday) to charge a 34-year-old Renton woman with the shooting death Dec. 1 of her husband.

The Renton Reporter will name her once she has been charged. She’s being held in the King County Jail in downtown Seattle on $1 million bail for investigation of second-degree murder.

The woman was scheduled to have her second court appearance today.

The woman called 911 at about 1:30 p.m. Dec. 1 to report she had just shot her 31-year-old husband. Renton officers have been to the residence in the 12400 block of 184th Street on several occasions for domestic incidents, according to Terri Vickers, a Renton Police Department spokeswoman.

Officers found the husband lying on the front yard, with at least two gunshot wounds, and the wife with her hands raised in the air, according to the Police Department’s certification of probable cause filed with prosecutors. He died at the scene.

Besides the couple, there were six children at home, including three they share in common.

Officers found a shell casing in the yard, near the foot of the porch stairs, and two spent slugs. According to the children and with interviews with the suspect, the man was shot once inside and once after he ran from the house

Officers learned the couple had argued that weekend over text messages he had received from another woman.
