The Liberty girls soccer team finished another standout season by falling to Holy Names 1-0 Saturday to take fourth in the 3A state tournament.

The Patriots (14-5-1) lost to Columbia River Friday in the semifinals in a shootout. Liberty took the lead in the 26th minute in that game when Tara Johnson scored off a Katie Noonan throw-in. It was just the fifth goal Columbia River had allowed all season.

A Maddie Reynolds goal in the 69th minute tied the game. After two scoreless overtime periods, Liberty led 4-3 on penalty kicks before missing its final three attempts.

Liberty beat Columbia River 2-1 in the first round of state last year on the way to taking second place.

Saturday against Holy Names, the teams played a scoreless first half before Holy Names took the lead in the second half.
