Renton home-schooled students to perform Shakespeare

Published 9:58 am Thursday, April 28, 2011

A group of home-schooled students from the Renton area and beyond will perform William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” in early May for free to the general public.

The play is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., May 6 and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., May 7 at the Renton Highlands LDS Meeting House, 816 Field Ave. N.E.

Most of the students began studying Shakespeare this year as part of their course work with the Highlands Shakespeare Society. In it they are challenged to read, listen or watch 17 of his works.

Their home-schooling courses stress depth of knowledge, not so much quantity of subjects, said Andressa Gross, who has a daughter in the program.

This will be the second time performing for some students. The show has them in full costumes made by some of the parents.

This is a Leadership Education Association of Puget Sound-sponsored program.
