The Hazen girls soccer team beat Auburn Mountainview 1-0 Wednesday night to advance to the district tournament. The Highlanders (12-4-1) took the lead late in the 75th minute when Dee Dee Green scored on an assist from Cindy Hanson. Cameron Devereux got the shutout.

“We didn’t play one of our best games, but our girls played together well enough to beat a good group of players,” said Hazen coach Ken Matthews.

Auburn Mountainview beat Hazen 2-1 in non-league play on Sept. 6 this season. The Highlanders play a winner-to-state, loser-out game at Columbia River at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Renton (7-5) plays at Klahowya Saturday at 12 p.m. Lindbergh (11-4) takes on Orting at Highline Stadium Saturday at 10 a.m. Both games are winner-to-state, loser-out. Liberty (12-3-1) plays again Nov. 7 in the first round of the 3A state tournament.
