Frankie Johnson nets hat trick, Hazen tops Decatur | Soccer

The Hazen boys soccer team topped a tough Decatur squad 6-3 Wednesday to move within one win of the 3A state tournament. The Highlanders (8-5-4) play Columbia River Saturday at 1 p.m. at Highline in a winner-to-state, loser-out game.

The Highlanders (8-5-4) play Columbia River Saturday at 1 p.m. at Highline in a winner-to-state, loser-out game.

The Hazen defense stepped up to hold Michael Klavuhn to two shots and no goals. Klavuhn entered the game with 24 goals on the season.

On the other side, Hazen’s offense was clicking early. Sam Bunnell scored two minutes in on an assist by Frankie Johnson. Jordan Lewison scored four minutes later on another assist by Johnson. Lewison scored again later (Bunnell assist), and Johnson finished with a hat trick (Devin Sando, Conner Hall and Casey Guay assists).
