Renton PTA honors two parents

Two parents were honored at the Renton Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) Council’s annual “Founder’s Day” dinner and auction on April 25 for their exceptional volunteer support.

Two parents were honored at the Renton Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) Council’s annual “Founder’s Day” dinner and auction on April 25 for their exceptional volunteer support.

Kandy Schendel, president of the Renton PTSA Council, was honored with the Golden Acorn Award, which is the widely known PTA volunteer of the year award. Schendel, a former elementary, middle and high school PTA president, also serves as the council president. She has been a part of PTA for the last 18 years. She is also the current PTSA president for Hazen High PTSA. Schendel’s daughter, Melanie Schendel, is a senior at Hazen High School.

Christie LeBar was provided the Honorary Life Membership Award. This award recognizes those who have given above and beyond the call of duty, and LeBar has been a part of the PTA volunteer teams for all of her children’s years in school. LeBar is also the Senior Grad Night 2016 Chair for Hazen High School Booster Club. LeBar’s daughter, Kristin LeBar, is a senior at Hazen High School.
