More paving planned July 14-17 for northbound I-5 work

#ReviveI5 continues with four weekends of expansion joint work later this year.

Drivers should be prepared for another weekend of lane reductions on northbound Interstate 5 in SeaTac and Tukwila as paving work continues between State Route 516 and South 170th Street.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation have two weekends of paving remaining on this #ReviveI5 project. Once that is finished, they will schedule four more weekends to replace expansion joints on northbound I-5 at Interurban Avenue and the Duwamish River.

Northbound I-5 will be reduced from five lanes to two lanes from 8 p.m. Friday, July 14, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 17.

  • Lane closures will start south of SR 516 on Friday night and north of Military Road starting at 12:01 a.m. Sunday.
  • Northbound I-5 will be reduced to one lane between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Saturday.
  • From 8 p.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, the SR 516 and Military Road on-ramps and the South 188th Street off-ramp will be closed.
  • From 12:01 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, the Military Road on-ramp and the South 188th Street on- and off-ramps will be closed.

After this weekend, contractor crews will break for a few weeks because of major events in Seattle, including the Bite of Seattle, a big Seattle Mariners series with the New York Yankees and Seafair. They will finish paving the weekend of Aug. 11-14.
