‘Downtown Design Day’ to seek input on Renton Downtown Civic Core

The community is asked to weigh in on potential concepts for the Civic Core and Downtown Business District

On June 6, in association with the season opening of the Farmers Market, the city of Renton will host a Downtown Design Day for the Renton Downtown Civic Core Vision and Action Plan. The design day will provide the community an opportunity to identify which ideas provided from various outreach activities should move forward for more focused analysis this summer.

Meeting participants, using a “Downtown Civic Core Tour Guide,” will view a series of exhibits where they can create their own concept that identifies the important elements to focus on moving forward. The activities are expected to take 30-45 minutes to complete. The open house is family-friendly and light refreshments will be provided.

Who: Renton community members, businesses, property owners and interested parties

What: Review and provide input on several Civic Core and Downtown Business District concepts

When: June 6, 2017, 3-7 p.m.

Where: Renton Pavilion Event Center (enter from the western terrace facing Logan Avenue South)

The Downtown Civic Core Vision and Action Plan will identify a community-supported vision and actions to build upon Downtown Renton’s many assets and strategic location in the region. The plan will offer strategies to create dynamic spaces for people to gather, safe streets for all modes of transportation, and a bustling business environment.

This planning process started in the fall of 2016. A Community Advisory Committee and Technical Advisory Committee have met regularly to guide the process. The plan is expected to be complete by late 2017.
