Hazen Varsity’s up and down season continued Tuesday in a 3-2 loss to Lindbergh.
Hazen jumped out to a 1-0 7 minutes into the game on a Freshman Mid Robbie Schroeder goal from Senior Mid Jorman Gonzales’ assist. Lindbergh scored three unanswered goals in 10 minutes on set pieces from 25 yards in.
Junior Forward and Captain Reyes Garcia pulled one back with a PK resulting from a Lindbergh hand ball in the box at 76, according to a press release from Hazen Coach Ken Matthews.
A wild attacking finish by Hazen came up short in the end.
“It seems like we’ve battled consistency every day for the last two seasons. Tonight I started the same line up that scored nine goals six days ago. And we totaled nine shots for the whole game. I think six were in the first ten minutes and three came in the last four minutes of the game. That isn’t Hazen Soccer,” said Matthews.
Liberty falls to MI
The Liberty Patriots soccer team fell to Mercer Island April 8 in a 2-1 overtime thriller.
Liberty got on the board first with a goal in the sixth minute from Ethan Diaz off a Michael DuVall assist.
The scored then stayed the same until the 78th minute of the game when Mercer Island was able to tie it up and send the game to overtime.
In the 89th minute of play, Mercer Island was able to get the game-winner into the net.
Patriots take big win
Coming off a pair of losses to Bellevue, the Liberty Patriots baseball team righted the ship in a big way April 8 with an 11-0 win on the road at Juanita.
Torey Anderson and Boston Munro combined for a 3-hit shutout. Anderson pitched 4 innings, gave up 3 hits with 6 strikeouts and 6 walks. Munro through two innings of no-hit ball with three strikeouts.
Michael Heath had 5 RBI for the Patriots, going 2-4 at the plate. Riley Wingerson added 4 RBI of his own, going 2-for-3 with a run.
Tyler Moczulerski also added a home run in the win.
Seahawks preseason
The Seattle Seahawks 2015 preseason schedule has been set, the NFL announced.
Seattle opens the preseason at home vs. Denver on Q13 FOX. It marks the third-consecutive preseason the Seahawks face the Broncos.
