Renton teen takes the mound at Safeco

Nolan Sparks has played baseball around the country and the world and now Safeco Field.

Renton’s Nolan Sparks, 15, threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Mariners took on the Texas Rangers June 10 at Safeco Field in Seattle.

Sparks was selected to throw out the pitch during Mormon Night because of his “commitment to leadership and community service, and passion for baseball,” according to a press release.

Sparks has played baseball all around the country and world, including the Team USA squad that paced third at the Latin American Baseball Classic and one day hopes to play in the Major Leagues.
