P.J. Benedictus wins triple jump; Renton, Liberty finish in top 5 at Eason invite | Track & field

The Liberty boys track and field team placed second at the Eason Invitational April 16.

The Patriots scored 45.5 points, behind just Skyline at 48 points. Renton came in fifth with 34 points. Lindbergh tied for 18th with 16 points. Hazen finished 35th with six points.

Liberty highlights: Junior Josh Gordon took second in the long jump, third in the high jump, and fourth in the 200-meter dash. Senior Devin Bennett placed third in the triple jump, and took sixth in the 400 and the long jump. Sophomore Hiron Redmon placed third in the 800.

Mason Goodman, Joseph Bergmann, Chris Volk and Chris Turner combined to take fifth in the distance medley. Junior Hamilton Noel placed fourth in the pole vault.

Renton highlights: Senior P.J. Benedictus won the triple jump with a distance of 46 feet, 10 inches. He also took ninth in the high jump.

Benedictus, Robert Reeves III, Immanuel Carter and Justin Bennett combined to win the 4 X 100 relay.

Bennett finished second in the 200. Carter placed fifth in the long jump.

Lindbergh highlights: Junior Calebse Cange took sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. Joe Simpson, Mitchell Hughey, Nate Tandecki and Cange combined to take second in the 4 X 400 relay.

Austin Franklin, Ben Platt, Tandecki and Alex Nelson finished fourth in the distance medley.

Hazen highlights: Keith Beasley, Travis Lily, Daniel Huie and Daniel Karpman combined to place third in the distance medley.

 

Girls

The Lindbergh girls team took 14th, with 21 points. Liberty tied for 26th with 13 points. Renton tied for 37th with eight points.

Lindbergh highlights: Junior Sarah Reiter took fourth in the 3,200. Junior Jasmine Fallgreen took 10th in the 3,200. Senior Jazzmine Knox placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and took fourth in the triple jump. Senior Lisa Peterson took seventh in the same race.

Knox, Peterson, Janala Scott and Kaitlin Zinsli placed fifth in the 4 X 100 relay.

Liberty highlights: Sophomore Rachel Shaw placed ninth in the 3,200.

Delane Agnew, Elizabeth Ryker, Madison Birdsall and Stacy Christensen combined to take fourth in the 4 X 200. Agnew, Ryker, Birdsall and Michaela Chucka finished second in the 4 X 400 relay.

Renton highlights: Senior Amadi Bentley placed second in the 100 hurdles. Senior Vanessa Tran took 10th in the discus.
