Lindbergh, Hazen prepare for district action | Baseball

The Lindbergh baseball team advanced to the West Central District 2A tournament after going 1-1 at sub-districts. The Eagles (15-1) opened the sub-district tournament by beating North Kitsap 1-0 in 14 innings. Lindbergh scored the game's only run in the 14th on an RBI by Derrick Holt.

Matt Stuart started and pitched 7.2 innings, allowing just one hit. He struck out four. Brett Love pitched 6.1 innings of relief, allowing four hits and earning the win.

North Kitsap’s AJ Milyard pitched 11 innings in the game.

Next, Lindbergh fell to White River 2-1. The Hornets scored one run in the first inning, then added another in the sixth. Lindbergh scored once in the top of the seventh on an RBI by Cooper Stevens.

Stuart went 2-2 in the game and Lindbergh outhit White River seven to three. Ryan White pitched six innings, allowing one earned run on three hits for the Eagles.

Lindbergh takes on the winner of Olympic and Fife Wednesday at Franklin Pierce at 5 p.m. The winner of that game is guaranteed a trip to the 2A state tournament. If the Eagles lose, they play against Saturday at 2 p.m. at Franklin Pierce.

Hazen

Hazen (14-5) will face the winner of Columbia River and Bonney Lake Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Auburn Mountainview in the second round of the West Central District 3A tournament.

If the Highlanders win, they play against Saturday at 10 a.m. and are guaranteed a trip to the 3A state tournament. If they lose, they play Saturday at 4 p.m. at Heidelberg Park in a loser-out game.
