Lindbergh quarterback Sam Nehren was awarded by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association as the 2A boys Athlete of the Week for his on field performance against Foster on Oct. 6. Nehren threw 19 of 24 for 313 passing yards and six touchdowns.

So far this season, Nehren has thrown 1381 yards with 15 touchdowns. Completing 79 of 131 throwing and averaging over 230 yards passing a game.

Hazen senior Joe Tryon was also named an Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Sept. 23 homecoming victory in which he caught five catches for 148 yards and three touchdowns. On the other side of the ball, Tryon had 4.5 tackles and one tackle for a loss in the win.

In recognition of their accomplishment, each Athlete of the Week winner receives a congratulatory letter from WIAA Executive Director, Mike Colbrese, a commemorative WIAA State Athlete of the Week t-shirt, and a certificate. Winners are also posted to the WIAA website at www.wiaa.com.
