Lindbergh ends season as unbeaten Seamount League champs

Eagles complete turnaround and head into the postseason with No. 1 seed.

The Lindbergh boys soccer team’s quest for a perfect season came to an end last week as the Eagles played to a 1-1 tie with Foster on April 26, but they will still finish the year unbeaten and as the Seamount League Champions and top 2A seed headed into next week’s playoffs.

Foster scored first in their matchup, forcing the Eagles to rally, as they have done all year, tying the game late in the second half off a penalty kick.

On April 29, the Eagles officially clinched the league championship with a 3-0 win over Tyee. Alex Kirtsov had 2 goals and Taylor Rin added the third in the victory. Goalie Alex Sifuentes picked up the shutout.

On Tuesday, the Eagles closed out the season with 1-0 win over Highline.

Lindbergh finishes the year 15-0-1 overall and 13-0-1 in the Seamount, completing a remarkable turnaround for the core group of seniors who just four years ago did not win a single game.

Next week, the Eagles will head to the district tournament as the top seed. They will play the No. 1 seed from the Olympic League in a game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Highline Stadium.
