Liberty shuts out second straight opponent; Renton falls to Foster | Baseball

The Liberty baseball team won by shutout for the second straight time Friday, beating Mercer Island 3-0.

The Patriots (6-9 overall, 3-8 KingCo 3A/2A) are tied with Juanita for sixth place in the KingCo. Liberty faces Juanita May 4 in the scheduled regular-season finale.

Jacob Hofferber and Izak Styskal combined to allow just four hits against the Islanders. Hofferber pitched 5.1 innings and struck out four.

Chris Weik went 1-1 with two RBI. Ben Wessell went 2-3

Liberty beat Bellevue 10-0 April 25.

 

Foster 8, Renton 0

Renton fell behind 5-0 early and could never catch up in an 8-0 loss to Foster Thursday.

The Indians (2-10, 2-9 Seamount) still hold the sixth spot in the league, half a game ahead of Foster. Renton topped Foster 5-4 the first time the teams met this season March 25.

The Bulldogs scored five runs in the first two innings and added three in the top of the seventh.

Oliver Billon took the loss for Renton.
