Liberty edges LW 3-2, advances to districts | Softball

Liberty beat Lake Washington 3-2 in the KingCo 3A/2A playoffs Friday to advance to the district tournament.

The Patriots (8-9) lost to Bellevue 7-1 in the first round of the league playoffs Thursday, but bounced back to earn a district berth.

Both teams scored two runs in the third, then Liberty took the lead with a run in the sixth inning. Jenn Rucker went 1-4 with two RBI. Amanda Jewett earned the win.

The Patriots play Bishop Blanchet in the first round of the district tournament Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lower Woodlands park in Seattle. The game is loser-out.

Five of the 12 district teams will advance to state.
