Liberty and Hazen combine to send 28 wrestlers to districts

Of those 28, five won their weight classes.

A successful KingCo Tournament saw both Liberty and Hazen high schools find success on the wrestling mat, sending a handful of student-athletes to the district tournament.

Hazen had 15 wrestlers finish inside the top eight while Liberty had 13 wrestlers who will be moving on to the district tournament at University High School in Spokane.

For Hazen: Mario De Anda Lopez (165), Arthur Ruff (175) and Kustino Ottorbech (285) won their respective weight classes. Seven other Highlanders finished inside the top six, guaranteeing a seed in the next tournament.

On the Liberty side, Jackson Mostrom (113) and Kiona Hill (144) took home first place finishes for the Patriots. In total, nine other Liberty wrestlers guaranteed themselves a seed in the district tournament.

Liberty is taking two alternates with them to Spokane while Hazen is taking two first-alternates and three second-alternates.

Districts began on Feb. 10 over on the eastern part of the state.
