Hazen student recognized for track achievements

Olivia Conklin finished third school last year at the Washington State Multi Event Championships (Heptathlon). This is where all the top high school athletes in Washington compete against each other from all school classifications.

It was a huge accomplishment for Olivia for several reasons. First, Olivia was a freshman last year and the highest placing underclassman at this event. Plus, Olivia had never competed in most of the events until last year.

We had to use the high school season to let her get used to all seven events. Olivia never complained once and worked her tail off to get proficient at all the events.

The Hazen coaches were hoping for a top seven finish but Olivia shocked us all and placed third.

She proved she’s one of the best athletes in the state and has three more years to become a state champion.
