Hazen soccer bounces back with 2-0 win

Amy Warmenhoven led the way for Hazen on Thursday, scoring one goal and picking up an assist on the other

After dropping a league match earlier this week to Kentwood, the Hazen Highlander soccer team rebounded Thursday with a 2-0 victory over Mt. Rainier.

The win allowed the Highlanders to overtake the Rams on the league table.

“We talked at the end of the game how important it is to beat teams above us int he standing when we get the chance,” coach Ken Matthews said in an email.

Amy Warmenhoven led the way for Hazen on Thursday, scoring one goal and picking up an assist on the other. Isis Hatcher had the second goal and Madison Kem picked up the other assist.

Keepers Kaitlyn Kiteley and Allison Gummere shared the shutout.

Hazen is 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the NPSL. They host Kentridge at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Renton memorial Stadium.
