The Hazen Highlanders girls basketball team bounced back from a loss on Monday to beat the Lindbergh Eagles 48-40 Wednesday night at Hazen and keep their Seamount League record perfect for the season.
Kaya Dumas led the way for Hazen with 14 points. Lindbergh’s Elle Watts led all scorers with 18 in the loss.
The first quarter was a defensive struggle, with Hazen pulling out ahead 9-4. But the Eagles responded in a big way in the second quarter, outscoring the Highlanders 22-9 to take a 26-18 lead into halftime.
But the lead would prove to not be enough as the Highlanders stepped up their game in the second half, outscoring the Eagles 13-7 in the third and completing the comeback with a 17-7 fourth quarter to take the victory.
With the win, the Lady Highlanders remain a perfect 8-0 in Seamount League play (11-3 overall) and remain at the top of the standings. They take on Evergreen Friday at Hazen.
Lindbergh falls to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in the Seamount. The Eagles host the second-place Renton Indians on Friday.
