Girls soccer: Lindbergh lands 10 on All-Seamount League squad

Players and coaches around the Seamount selected all-league teams for the girls soccer season. Lindbergh led the three Renton Seamount schools with 10 players on the first and second team. Junior defender Lauren Hunter, senior defender Shelby Reiter, senior midfielder Sarah Aylward and junior forward Nichole Brunette made the first team.

Junior defender Lauren Hunter, senior defender Shelby Reiter, senior midfielder Sarah Aylward and junior forward Nichole Brunette made the first team.

Forward Jordyn McLuen, goalkeeper Jade Kruusi, midfielder Jami Kouba, defender Kim Girmus, defender Kaitlyn Osburn and midfielder Whitney Hilde made the second team.

Katie Maple and Michelle Coleman made honorable mention.

Lindbergh ended the season at 13-4-1 overall and 13-2-1 in the League. The Eagles took second place in the Seamount and came within one game of the state tournament.

Lindbergh’s season ended with a 3-2 loss to North Kitsap in the district tournament on Nov. 8. Brunette and Aylward scored goals for the Eagles in the game.

For the season, Brunette led the team in goals with 20. McLuen chipped in 14. Aylward led the team in assists with 12. Brunette was second, with 11. Kruusi recorded eight shutouts at goalkeeper.

Highlanders end season with winning record

Hazen landed three members on the all-league first team in junior defender Makenzie Simpson, senior midfielder Carli Sowder and junior midfielder Britney Boler. Junior defender Taylor Hoover and senior goalkeeper Mikka Boler made the second team for Hazen.

Torri Middlekauff, Matilda Burr and Kayla Hackman made honorable mention.

Hazen finished the season at 9-7-1 overall and 9-6-1 in the Seamount. The Highlanders placed fourth in the league and finished the season with a loss to Olympic in the subdistrict tournament.

Carli Sowder led the team in goals with eight. Marina Vaugn scored seven.

Renton lands four on all-league teams

Renton senior midfielder/defender Tahleah Tolbert made the all-league second team. Wanda Saechin, Kristen Haag and Anna Vu made honorable mention.

Renton finished the season at 3-11 overall and in the league. The Indians placed seventh in the Seamount.

Boys golf

Hazen golfer, coach honored as best of year

Hazen senior Kekoa Mark won the Seamount League’s male golfer of the year. Mark shot a first-round 73 and second-round 79 to take the Seamount League boys title at Elk Run Golf Club on Oct. 16. Hazen coach Jeffrey Wood was selected the Seamount’s Golf Coach of the Year.

Cross country

Retmann coach of year for Lindbergh XC teams

Lindbergh’s Jef Rettmann was selected as the Seamount League’s Coach of the Year for both boys and girls cross country. The Eagles’ boys team finished fourth at the 3A state meet on Nov. 8, highest ever for the school. The Eagles’ girls and JV teams both won league titles.

Lindbergh boys ninth at Nike Northwest Regionals

The Lindbergh boys team placed ninth at the Nike Northwest Regionals in Boise, Idaho on Nov. 15. The meet featured many of the best teams from the Northwest.

Liberty trio nabs

all-league spots

Liberty’s Chelan Simonds (junior) made the KingCo all-league volleyball team. Cortney Schirman and Danni Sjolander made all-league honorable mention from the Patriots.

Liberty ended the season at 1-11 in the KingCo and 2-14 overall.
