The Hazen football team broke loose of an 18-year-long streak by beating Kennedy Catholic 28-14 Oct. 22.
“It was great,” said Hazen coach Drew Oliver. “It was crazy. Our students rushed the field. They gave me a little Gatorade shower. It was fun and it was a good game.”
The Highlanders put the game away with 22 second-half points and continued a trend with a second straight comeback win.
“Our defense keeps us in the game and gives us a chance to come back,” Oliver said. “Then we’ve had a few big plays, some long TD passes, plays where momentum changes quickly.”
Hazen beat former head coach Scott Leick and Tyee 40-12 last night in its final regular season game. It was the third straight win for Hazen heading into th playoffs.
James Holland scored twice, Anthony Pena, Isiah Talley and Frankie Johnson each scored a rushing touchdown. D.J. Perry caught a 32-yard touchdown pass from Travis Johnson.
