Walt Amos Mathis

Walter Amos Mathis passed away peacefully January 10, 2013 with is daughter, son and wife of 74 years at his side. Born July 16, 1918. Walt enjoyed a long and fruitful life and was a resident of Renton for over 65 years. Walt served in the Pacific in WWII in the 7th Infantry Division, 32nd Infantry, Company B on Okinawa. Walt was active in the American Legion in Renton. Over his lifetime he worked on busses (North Coast Transportation), cars (Frank Rhodes) and eventually cement trucks at Stoneway Sand and Gravel. He was a lifelong member of Local 289 of the International Association of Machinists. He was an avid fisherman, loved to camp, hunt and rock hound. He is survived by his wife, daughters Bonnie and Sharon, son Dave, 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
