Raymond Earnest (Bill) O’Brien

February 24, 1915 – September 19, 2010Bill a long time resident of Renton passed away peacefully after a long and full life. Bill was born in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin and spent his youth in Turtle Lake and Bismarck, North Dakota. He enlisted in the Navy on December 8, 1941 the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. While in the Navy he served in the Aleutain Islands and the Philppines. After he was discharged from the Navy in 1945 he settled in Renton and worked as a chef at Tonkins Cafe. He later opened O’Brien’s Cafe in Auburn. He was a great chef and one of his rules were you never put catsup on a steak. After the restaurant business he was involved in another family business, O’Brien’s Furniture and Appliance in Renton. Bill is survived by his wife Ann, son Patrick, daughter Nancy Mattaini and her husband Barry six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. At his request there will be no service. Bill will be interned at the Veterans Cemetery in Tahoma.
