LeRoy Frederick

LeRoy, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the age of 86. He was born November 11, 1923 to Matilda & Emil Frederick in Coleraine, WI, as one of ten children. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the US Coast Guard overseas, and participated in the landing on D-Day. In 1945 he married his beloved wife, Lorraine, and they were together until she died in 1985. He never remarried, as she was his one true love. He graduated from Valley City Teachers College, North Dakota in 1950. After teaching three years in North Dakota, he moved his family to Renton where he taught History & Government at Renton High School for 25 years until his retirement in 1983. LeRoy will be remembered for his story telling ability that left people laughing, a man who loved a good argument, read 4 to 5 books a week his entire life, enjoyed fishing with his son and grandson in Alaska, and cared for his daughter who has M.S. LeRoy had prostate cancer that he recovered from and then devoted 25 years to volunteer work at Valley General Hospital and also spent 20 years leading the Prostate cancer support group. LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, his parents, and all but two siblings. He is survived by his children Colleen (John) Marinkov, Douglas (Veda) Frederick, Carol Frederick, and Cami (Steve) Reinke, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Dad, you and Mom were greatly loved, we will miss you.Services will be held on Friday, October 1 at 2:00 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Renton.
