Larry Franklin Beck

Larry Beck, 71, of Renton, WA, died peacefully on September 8, 2008, at the Puget Sound VA Hospital after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. Larry was born in Duluth, MN on March 18, 1937 where he lived most of his life. After grad-uating from Duluth Central High School in 1955, he enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged. Later, he worked as a surgical assistant, before starting his own business as a carpet and linoleum installer. Larry married Eleanor Markkula in 1960 and together they had two wonderful daughters. The family moved to Osakis, MN in 1973, where they lived for several years. Larry volunteered his time as a firefighter and EMT. Larry and his two daughters later moved to Washington State and called it their home. This is where Larry fell in love with Evonne Collins and they married and settled in Renton. Larry enjoyed working at Wal-Mart be-fore finally retiring in 2004. Larry loved Hawaiian beaches, T-bone steaks, fishing, Swedish pancakes, and lending a helping hand to anyone. Everyone loved Larry. His kindness touched and changed us all.Larry is preceded in death by his father, Walter Beck, and sister, Joyce Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Evonne Beck; his mother, Nathalie Beck; brothers, Steve (Jane) Beck and Ron (Don Wilson) Beck; daughters, Susan Gantt and Julie Beck; two grandsons, Christopher Gantt and Jaden Beck. Larry also enjoyed 6 stepchildren and 20 grand and great-grandchil-dren through his marriage to Evonne and friends too numerous to mention.The memorial services will be held at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington on Thursday, September 25, 2008, at 1:00 p.m.Memorials may be made to the Puget Sound VA Health Care Systems.
