On Sunday, January 6, 2013, Kenneth B. Powell, Sr. passed away peacefully at the age of 78 in his hometown of Renton, WA.In 1960, Mr. Powell and his wife opened a “Chevron Service Station” located in Skyway and shortly thereafter purchased his first tow truck calling it “Skyway Towing”. Moving the business to Renton in 1967, he continued to purchase multiple tow trucks and opened a body shop, mechanics shop and paint booth. As the company grew, he moved the company to larger facilities where he continued to support the community, other businesses and the local schools. Mr. Powell and Skyway Towing is a pillar in the community and set high standards for the towing industry. Mr. Powell enjoyed golfing, fishing, motorcycle riding (especially for the “Lawman 1000”) and spending time with his family.Mr. Powell is survived by his wife Donna of 54 years, daughter Kimberly, son Kenneth III, sister Catherine, granddaughter Amy and great-granddaughters Emily and Hailey.
