Irene L. (Svor) Grefthen

Irene went peacefully to her final resting place in Heaven surrounded by her loving family on October 10, 2011. Irene was born in Tioga, ND, on March 3, 1920 and moved to Chicago, IL, in 1943 where she met and married Carl Grefthen on September 4, 1946. Irene had a love of life and a love of God that she dedicated her entire life to pass down to her 7 children, 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her favorite moments were having family get togethers at her home for holidays and just “because”. Her most cherished times were coffee visits with her kids! Irene is survived by six of her seven children, one brother, and one sister. She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, one son, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Services will be held Friday, October 21 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Renton at 12:00 noon with viewing at 11 am.
