Brenda Jean Hovland-Knorr

Brenda Jean Hovland-Knorr peacefully & gracefully passed into the arms of the Lord she loved, May 20, 2011 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Brenda was born to Louie and Lucille Hovland in Rolla N. Dakota on Sept. 28, 1941. As a young girl, she was her Father’s right hand, working in the fields, milking cows and cleaning the barn. She developed a life long passion for horses, especially high spirited Arabians she could ride at full gallop with the wind in her hair. As a teenager, she moved with her family to Renton, WA, graduated from high school, worked as a dental assistant, and later married and moved to Kansas. While there she delightfully gave birth to her sons, Richard Douglas and Michael Kenneth–the loves of her life. She returned to Renton, worked at SeaFirst Bank where she was robbed at gun point, not once, but twice! In 1970, Brenda married Charles Knorr, who adopted her boys and later moved the family to Utah. Brenda was happy to again have horses to ride on a beautiful ranch, be a member of the Utah Silver Spurs (a riding club) and keep a huge garden. Brenda later returned to Renton where she retired from Boeing in 2004. Then back to Utah to be close to her boys. Brenda is survived by her sons Rick Knorr (Leanne) and Mike Knorr; sister Kay Notaro (Bill); brother Ken Hovland (Julie); grandchildren Chase Knorr (Maryanne); Chenney Knorr, Colton Knorr, and Taylor Knorr; Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncle, cousins, and her good friend Mike Lankester. She is preceded in death by her parents and life long friend Garnet Stein. Family would like to express gratitude for the gentle care given by Utah Hospice Specialist. Services are being held May 26, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
