Woman critically injured when hit by vehicle on Maple Valley Highway Monday night

A 73-year-old woman was critically injured Monday night when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the Maple Valley Highway, according to the Renton Police Department.

A 73-year-old woman was critically injured Monday night when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the Maple Valley Highway mid-block, according to the Renton Police Department.

Witnesses told investigators the woman was crossing in the 14900 block of the highway at about 8:25 p.m. when she was struck by a Kia Sorento, according to police. Initially, it does not appear that alcohol, drugs, or speed were factors in the collision, according to police. The driver wasn’t arrested.

She suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she was in critical condition Tuesday.

Westbound Maple Valley Highway was closed to traffic until approximately midnight.
