The following information was compiled from Renton Police Department case reports.

A couple with different definitions of commitment got into a verbal and physical argument over money outside a fast-food restaurant Aug. 12 on Sunset Boulevard Northeast.

The 29-year-old Tukwila woman was seen punching her “fiance,” pulling his hair and scratching him. She denied doing any of that, except the scratching. “Yes, I scratched him, but he wouldn’t listen to me,” she said.

The Kent man, who was in handcuffs, was covered with scratches. First he said she was a friend, then upgraded that to “girlfriend.” An officer saw him swing at his girlfriend but he missed. He declined politely to assist in the investigation.

The Tukwila woman was arrested for fourth-degree domestic violence and booked into the SCORE regional jail.

Inside her purse officers found numerous multicolored silk ties, including one with a $155 price tag, from Nordstrom. There was a box of Gucci perfume still wrapped in plastic. She had just told officers she is unemployed and penniless.

She had just retrieved the items from storage, she told officers, but couldn’t produce a receipt. Officers were working with Nordstrom’s to determine whether the items had been shoplifted.

PLEASE DON’T ARREST ME: A 31-year-old Puyallup man broke down in tears Aug. 15 after he was arrested for shoplifting a camera lens from Fry’s Electronics.

He asked the officer to let him go. He had just gained custody of his 2-year-old twin sons and he had a  hearing Aug. 19.

That wasn’t an option, the officer told him, because he has four arrest warrants, along with this latest charge.

He also has a prior conviction for theft.

GUNFIRE HITS WINDSHIELD: The windshield of a Dodge Caravan with its driver inside was pierced Aug. 13 by a bullet from a gun apparently fired by a gang member near Rainier Avenue South.

The Federal Way driver heard three gunshots, then silence, then two more.

Officers found five shell casings of different brands in front of an apartment complex on Hays Place Southwest.

A witness recognized two men who are known to associate with gangs, one of whom fired multiple shots at the other one. The second man ran southeast on Hayes toward Rainier.

Apparently, no one was wounded.
