Thursdays, May 4 to June 1

Renton Spring CERT Classes at Renton Regional Fire: Renton’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will hold free emergency preparedness classes every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. from April 20 to June 1. The class’ final drill will be on Saturday, June 3 at the Renton Regional Fire Authority Station 14 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Register through April 14 at rentonwa.gov/register and keyword search “CERT”.

Friday, May 5 & Saturday May 6

Ensemble Ballet Theatre presents: “To Neverland” at Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center:

This original ballet production based on J.M. Barrie’s “Peter Pan” will be showing on Friday at 9 p.m. and two showings on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $20, plus booking fees and available at ebtballet.org.

Saturday, May 13 & Sunday, May 14

Renton City Retro at Renton Pavilion Center:

This video game convention is back and at full capacity, complete with all access after parties, free arcade and video game play, vendors, toys, comic books, anime, an artist alley, cosplay contest, e-sports tournament and even a burleqsue show! The convention will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days and tickets are available at rentoncityretro.com.

Saturday, May 13

2023 Recycling Event Part I at Renton Technical College:

The City of Renton’s recycling event series returns in May from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the North Parking Lot of RTC. This event will be specifically for scrap metal, large appliances and styrofoam. Part II will take place Saturday, June 10 (mattress, box spring, cardboard, styrofoam and tire collection) and Part III will be Saturday Sept. 9 (styrofoam and documents for shredding). Renton Downtown Historic Walk at Downtown Renton:

Visit 10 or more historic buildigns throughout Renton’s downtown area at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include the tour, a tote bag, an admission ticket to the Renton History Museum, a program and a treat for the tour. Renton Downtown Art Tour at Renton History Museum:

Tickets are $25 for an informative and transformational art tour of downtown Renton’s unique and eye-catching public art, from murals to statues to painted hydrants. Tours will be at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and tickets are avaialble at rentondowntownpartnership.com.

Renton Neighborhood BBQ: Citywide Grad Party & Job Fair at Renton Community Center:

One of the city’s four free neighborhood events, this free BBQ is dedicated to graduates and employment and will run from noon to 3 p.m. Free hotdogs (with vegetarian options), live music, lawn games and city department information booths will be available to all who attend.

Friday, June 2

Sip & Strut Wine Walk at Rain City Market:

Partnered with Renton PRIDE, this Renton Downtown Partnership event will take place from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Walk through downtown Renton for some wine tasting, local shopping and a celebration of Renton’s LGBTQIA+ community. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at rentondowntown.com/event/sip-strut-wine-walk/.

Saturday, May 20 & Wednesday, June 7

Free Museum Days at the Renton History Museum: Free admission to the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and enjoy the wonders of the past! To view more events or add your own to the online calendar, visit events.rentonreporter.com/calendars/all-events.

Saturdays, May 6, 13, 20 & 27

Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail:

This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and specatators can come together.
