Two Renton Technical College students were recently honored by Gov. Jay Inslee and RTC President Steve Hanson for making it to the All-Washington Academic team.
Breeann Loya and Joe Spieldenner were both chosen through a competitive process based on their classroom and community achievements. Loya is in the early childhood careers program at RTC and Spieldenner is studying accounting.
The All-Washington Academic team is made up of the top students from all 34 community and technical colleges in the state, numbering 65 honorees total.Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for two-year colleges, began the All-USA Academic Team to recognize two-year college students for scholastic achievement and service to community. State-level academic teams were introduced beginning in 1994 and the first All-Washington team was announced in 1996.
