Two men arrested for spray-painting graffiti on Renton bridge

Two young men, including one from Walla Walla, were arrested for malicious mischief Sunday after Renton Police were alerted that someone was spray-painting graffiti under the Cedar River bridge in the 2500 block of the Maple Valley Highway.

An officer arrived to see four people sitting on the rocks beside the bridge. The 23-year-old from Walla Walla was wearing a respirator and was spray-painting the side of the bridge, according to the police report.

The other man, 19, also had a spray can in his hand. The two other individuals were watching the two men, but they didn’t have paint on their hands, according to the report. They were not arrested.

Inside a backpack and duffel bag were additional cans of spray paint. The officer could smell a strong odor of paint in the air. Still wet were the letters, “CRONYSAU.”

The older man was arrested for investigation of unlawful application of graffiti. The younger man was arrested for unlawful possession of graffiti implements or paraphernalia. Both were booked into Renton City Jail.
