Two 8-year-old students given PCP drugs after school

Two 8-year-old Kennydale Elementary students were given the drug PCP after school Thursday.

Both children were treated at a local hospital after ingesting some of the drug and are expected to be OK, according to a City of Renton press release.

The mother of one of the children called police from the hospital at about 7:45 p.m., saying she believed they had taken drugs.

A parent also found an empty vial in her child’s pants pocket.

The vial, which was said to contain a yellow liquid, was allegedly given to the children by a 7-year-old friend, according to the release.

The 7-year-old told police he found the drugs in a neighborhood park and that he didn’t know what was inside it, according to the release.

At about 9:30 Thursday night a parent told police that PCP (phenylcyclohexylpiperidine) was found in their child’s blood, according to the release.

PCP is a hallucinogenic and neurotoxic drug once used as an anesthetic.

It was not immediately released where the students ingested the drugs.
