Suspect wanted for Renton homicide ends life in Hood Canal shooting

Investigators are concerned he may have committed other acts of violence.

The suspect in the murder of a 38-year-old Bellevue woman took his own life during a shootout on the Hood Canal Bridge Tuesday, July 24.

The woman was found in Renton’s Econo Lodge Hotel brutally murdered, according to the Renton Police Department.

When investigators arrived at the hotel Monday, July 23, they discovered the woman had numerous cut wounds to her body and intentional mutilation after death.

Investigators found the suspect to be 20-year-old Krishna Mahadevan-Prasad, who was last known to be living in New Jersey.

According to Renton Police Department, they had issued a warrant for his 1995 Honda Accord with New Jersey license plates.

Washington State Patrol then alerted Renton Police Department early Tuesday morning that Mahadevan-Prasad was involved in an early morning shooting at the Hood Canal Bridge.

According to Komo News reports, Mahadevan-Prasad opened fire on two other vehicles before shooting himself. The three vehicles were waiting for the bridge to open following evening maintenance.

Mahadevan-Prasad was active duty army stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McCord.

According the Renton Police Department his travels are unknown, and the circumstances of the homicide in Renton concern investigators that he may have been responsible for other acts of violence.

“The Renton Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in learning of Mahadevan-Prasad’s activities in the days leading up to the murder and during the time between the murder and his death,” according to a Renton Police Department media release. “If you have any information, please call the Renton Police Department.”
