A man was arrested and charged for the robbery of a Cash America in Renton after being connected to a robbery of a jewelry store in Seattle.
On Oct. 21, DaSean Syree Harrison, 29, was charged with three counts of robbery in the first degree and three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in the first degree for the “smash and grab” robberies of Cash America pawn stores in Renton and Shoreline and a jewelry store, Menashe And Sons Jewelers, in Seattle. Harrison’s bail was set at $250,000 for these charges.
Detective Brian Jordan and the Renton Police Department took Harrison into custody on Oct. 16 at an apartment in Renton.
The robbery of the Cash America in Renton occurred on Jan 24, 2025. Officers arrived at the scene to find the glass display cases broken and jewelry with an estimated retail value of $323,777 stolen, according to court documents. The video showed three suspects entering the store. A heavier-set “light-skinned black or Hispanic male” led the way and smashed the glass cases with a sledgehammer.
Three other Cash America robberies also occurred around the same time in Seattle, Everett and Renton where sledgehammers were used to smash the cases before jewelry was stolen.
In Everett, the getaway vehicle was registered to Harrison and also identified at Seattle and Lynnwood Lowe’s stores, the latter where the driver could be seen picking out a black and blue sledgehammer like the one used in the crime. Different sledgehammers were used in each crime.
Police identified the man at the Lowe’s as Harrison by distinctive clothing he wore at both stores and his driver’s license photo. The black Burton jacket and shoes Harrison was wearing in the Lowe’s security footage matched the heavier-set suspect in the video from the Everett and Renton robberies, according to court documents.
Police then searched Harrison’s Maple Valley residence on April 25, after Harrison escaped custody in his vehicle. However, a jacket and shoes that matched the suspect’s was found at the residence, along with a North Face jacket matching a jacket worn by a suspect in both the Seattle and Shoreline burglaries.
Harrison was later arrested on Oct. 16 at his Renton apartment after he was connected to another similar burglary at Menashe And Sons Jewelers on Aug. 14, where four suspects stole more than $2 million in jewelry.
When the arrest was made, Harrison was in possession of a Glock 23 and a backpack containing 122.62 grams methamphetamine, 27.28 grams fentanyl powder, a digital scale with excessive fentanyl residue, clear plastic bags, and $1,040 in assorted denominations in Harrison’s wallet.
Police also found several firearms previously at Harrison’s Maple Valley residence, including a 5.7 FN handgun and a loaded .25 caliber Beretta handgun. Other gun parts found were a AR15 rifle upper, three AR15 magazines, an AK 47 magazine, two FN 5.7 magazines, a loaded Glock 9 mm magazine, a loaded Glock 10 mm magazine, an AR15 pistol arm brace, a loaded high capacity clear magazine and a metal AR15 magazine.
The report said Harrison has previous felony convictions for firearm possession and it is unlawful for him to own, possess or access a firearm.
The report also says there’s “probable cause to believe” Harrison committed crimes three counts of first degree malicious mischief, attempting to elude a police vehicle, unlawful and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in addition to the charges he received.
At least three suspects remain at large for the string of robberies Harrison is allegedly connected to.
