The Virginia Mason Athletic Center will host the fourth annual Seahawks Fish & Feast Charity fundraiser in support of the Catch A Special Thrill (C.A.S.T.) for Kids Foundation in May 2010.

Sponsors, including companies or individuals, are needed to support the charity and event.

The Seahawks’ players and coaches will host disabled and disadvantaged children from the local area for a morning of fishing, followed by a barbecue lunch, entertainment and auction featuring local and authentic Seahawks prizes.

There are five levels of sponsorship; Presenting, #12 Reel, Blue Reel, Green Reel, and White Reel. The Presenting sponsor for 2009 and 2010 is Pinnacle, an American management services company based in Seattle.

#12 Reel, Blue Reel Level and Green Reel Level sponsorships offer companies an opportunity to attend with family members and employees to fish with the children and a Seahawk player or coach, take part in the day’s activities, advertise their company and offer tax-deductible support to a local foundation that encourages our special needs children’s groups to spend time in the outdoors.

According to Rosie Kirby, a local occupational therapist, “This program supports leisure involvement and mastery in a motivating and socially simulating task and environment,” said Rosie Kirby, a local occupational therapist, in a press release.

“The ability for a child to learn a new skill and have a sense of achievement is some of the best therapy that a child can receive,” she said.

This year’s sponsorship packages include a combination of fishing excursion tickets, VIP Seahawks Training Camp Experiences, VIP Seahawks Regular Season Game Experiences, and much more. Last year, the Seahawks helped raise $25,000 for the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation.

The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation, established in 1991, provides disabled and disadvantaged children an opportunity to enjoy a quality outdoor recreational experience through the sport of fishing.

The foundation, based in Renton, takes more than 12,000 children fishing each year.
