The search has been suspended for Mitch Hungate, a Renton dentist who is missing after an avalanche near Granite Mountain on Snoqualmie Pass  Saturday.

King County Search and Rescue members said the area is too hazardous to send in search crews, according to Sgt. Cindi West, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s members have talked with avalanche experts who said the area is very unstable and will likely remain that way for days, according to West.

Once the avalanche danger decreased searchers will be sent back into the area in an attempt to recover the man’s body, according to West.
