Seahawks visit local school for encouraging words, fun

Seahawks's mascot and a player made a special visit to Campbell Hill Elementary School Tuesday to remind students the importance of staying healthy, active and connected to school.

What better way to get motivated to stay healthy than some words from the bird, Blitz that is.  The Seattle Seahawks’s mascot and a player made a special visit to Campbell Hill Elementary School Tuesday to remind students the importance of staying healthy, active and connected to school.

The trip to the school was part of the National Football League’s Play 60 program. Byron Maxwell, a second-year cornerback joined Blitz, the Seahawks’ mascot, to present students with positive messages about doing well in school, and tips and encouragement on playing outside for at least 60 minutes each day.The Seahawks representatives joined students on the playground for activities.

The program Play 60 was launched by the NFL in 2007. It is a national youth health and fitness campaign focused on increasing the wellness of young fans by encouraging them to be active for at least 60 minutes a day. Currently, the NFL has dedicated over $200 million to youth health and wellness through NFL Play 60.The Seattle team will visit other schools during the NFL season.
